About:

Creating a better future,
driven by renewable energy

Our Purpose

WABIO pronounced ‘Vabio’, is the contraction of WasteBio and an acronym for We Are Bio.

WABIO is driven by the wish to create a better environment for future generations, offering the industry’s most efficiently produced clean renewable biogas and biomethane.

Limiting greenhouse gas emissions by offering a clean alternative energy is one of WABIO’s key drivers to the work. WABIO operates within the principle that neutral emissions are no longer sufficient in maintaining temperature rise below 2º C.

With its best-in-class biogas plant technology, WABIO not only takes care of waste challenges, but also makes waste management profitable, all the while producing green energy in the form of electricity, heat or gas for homes and industries.

Mission Statement

We transform waste into valuable resources through innovative biogas solutions, promoting environmental sustainability and contributing to a circular economy.

Vision Statement

Turn waste into bioenergy at scale, for a more sustainable world.

Our Values

  • Protect the environment through responsible asset stewardship
  • Deploy efficient, reliable biogas technology
  • Grow our biogas portfolio for lasting value
  • Collaborate for shared success
  • Uphold integrity and safety in operations

“Fighting global warming and climate change are the most important goals on Earth, because otherwise, our planet will change to a very unpleasant place to live.”

CEO's Message

The CEO of WABIO Technologie GmbH, Raphael L. T. Fitz, has involved himself in the waste-to-green-energy industry when his second daughter was born and he realized that the world is destroying itself and will drown in waste – if mankind does not start immediately doing something against this dramatic development.

Together with the genius engineer Dr. Jochen Auerbach, the “father” of the WABIO technology, Raphael and the WABIO team are pursuing their way forward to fight for a greener and cleaner future!

Working in its own labs and with many university partners over the past 30 years, WABIO has been developing biotechnological process solutions to improve the efficiency of biogas generation. These highly efficient solutions take into account all environmental aspects to maximise the company’s positive impact on the environment.

WABIO has thus looked at all types of industrial, agricultural, and societal types of waste to develop solutions for a highly efficient and environmentally friendly conversion to renewable energy!

Headquartered in Munich and Neukirchen, WABIO was created in 1993 by Dr. Jochen Auerbach as the father of the WABIO technology. Raphael Fitz joined in the end 1990s.
The WABIO team is mainly composed of engineers and post graduates. The company has a strategic advisory committee, bringing together shareholder representatives and industry experts.
