RED III is now law — and for biomethane producers, it’s a market-making moment.
The directive raises the bar across the board: GHG savings thresholds jump to 70–80%, third-party certification becomes compulsory for a much wider range of operators, and food and feed-based feedstocks are effectively phased out. But demand is expanding just as fast — doubled transport sub-targets, Germany’s “bio staircase” opening the heating market from 2029, and GHG quota expansion into maritime and aviation. With double-counting abolished, biomethane is now the cheapest compliance route available.
This is the environment WABIO was built for. Waste and manure-based feedstocks. Near-zero or negative carbon intensity — the strongest credits on the market. Biomethane, bio-LNG, and BioCNG serving transport, heating, and maritime from the same asset base. Already certified. Already trading cross-border. RED III raises the bar and expands the playing field. We’re positioned on the right side of both.
